Peacekeeper

Key Takeaways for the Peacekeeper

  • It’s really fun to play with this thing
  • It has the highest damage per shot of the shotguns
  • Its performance is comparable to the Mastiff
  • It’s an all-around decent gun

To get a good feeling about the latter points, it’s best if you compare them yourself by reading our guide on the Mastiff.

The Peacekeeper is the textbook definition of the saying “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.” Truly, the tried and tested design of a “boomstick” never goes out of fashion. Cause, remember; the only thing better than a double-barreled shotgun, is a quadruple-barreled shotgun!

Looking for friends to play with? Check out the LFG feature in the Z League app; after all, who likes playing alone, right?

My Love Letter to the Peacekeeper

Even though the Peacekeeper isn’t the best shotgun, that title automatically goes to the EVA-8 (no pun about an auto-shotgun intended). It still holds a special place in my heart, as there’s something so satisfying in walking up close to an enemy and converting any solid tissue they may have into mist. Albeit, the Peacekeeper is an unforgiving mistress, and if you make a few bad shots in a row, you’ll probably be punished for it. But hey, the same is true for a lot of the other guns in Apex *cough* the Kraber. And just like the Kraber, whenever it hits, it leaves a big mark.

Stats of the Peacekeeper

Now let’s take a look at how it performs.

The Peacekeeper has the highest damage per shot of the shotguns as well as the highest amount of pellets fired in a single shot. What’s interesting is that the pellets are fired in a star pattern. A+ for judicial symbolism.

Attachments for the Peacekeeper

Here’s what you can attach to the Peacekeeper.

  • Shotgun Bolt
  • Standard Stock
  • 1x Holo
  • 1x HCOG “Classic”
  • 1x-2x Variable Holo
  • 2x HCOG “Bruiser”
  • 1x Digital Threat

Ideal Peacekeeper Set-Up

Given the ideal circumstances, this is how you should kit out your Peacekeeper in the course of the match.

Start by finding an Epic Shotgun Bolt first. Follow that up with an Epic Standard Stock. In the end, get a sight that you prefer, I personally always go with either a 2x HCOG “Bruiser” or a 1x HCOG  “Classic”, though, as always; if a 1x Digital Threat is available, then take it!

Sadly, since the ammunition count can’t be increased, you’ll be stuck with just 5 shots at your disposal. What can be changed however is the rechamber speed and the reload speed, so, make the best of what you’ve got at your disposal.

The Peacekeeper Compared to the Other Shotguns

If we were to compare the Peacekeeper to its brethren, its closest counterpart would be the Mastiff Shotgun. So, face to face, which gun would reign supreme? Let’s take a look at their pros and cons first.

Both have the same magazine size, so they’re pretty much equal in that regard, where they aren’t equal however is their reload speed. The Mastiff reloads and chambers a round much faster than the Peacekeeper, what’s more, because of its special ability, it loads two rounds at a time instead of one. This gives you the ability to fire many more rounds in a short time span than what you’d be able to do with the Peacekeeper. Where the Peacekeeper wins over the Mastiff is its damage per shot, as it just ever so slightly edges it out.

So, who’s the ultimate victor? Well, I’d say that this one goes down to personal preference. The Mastiff has a big shortcoming in that it fires its rounds in a horizontal spread, which makes it more likely that you’ll miss at least a few of the pellets; the Peacekeeper does not have that problem.

Potential Balance Changes for the Peacekeeper in the Future

As it currently sits, the Peacekeeper is in a fairly stable position. One change that I’d like to see is a rebalancing of its stats in regard to how much of a reduction its attachments give it; because, as it currently is, the differences are negligible.
