Valorant Mobile Release Date

Riot had already stated that they were planning to release Valorant mobile sometime in early 2022. Unfortunately, it seems that their plans have changed, seeing that it’s already 2023, and there’s still no mobile version for Valorant.

More recently, Riot said that they were having trouble developing the game. This is mostly because it requires an entirely different set of code and slightly different mechanics.

There’s still no clear announcement when it will be released. It seems that Valorant mobile is still a bit far away from the official release. At least don’t expect it to come sometime this year.

Valorant Mobile Early Tests

There hasn’t been any official word from Riot yet regarding any public tests. However, some rumors point toward early beta testing to begin sometime in 2023. Riot confirmed that they would be sending out invites to worthy players, likely streamers and content creators, first.

Riot is also planning to bring Valorant mobile to Southeast Asia (SEA) first. This makes a ton of sense, knowing how PUBG Mobile, Wild Rift, and Mobile Legends dominate the mobile-led region.

There have also been tons of gameplay leaks and screenshots about early testing in China. These leaks surfaced in early April 2022 and showed a log-in screen, the lobby, Agent select, and the buy phase in Ascent.

Riot Games hasn’t officially confirmed nor denied any of the leaked screenshots. However, they do come from @DannyINTEL, who is very well-known as a reliable leaker. The screenshots are also very realistic and shouldn’t be too far away from what the game may look like in the future.

Gameplay and Valorant PC Crossplay

Now, let’s get to the interesting part. For the most part, Valorant mobile should be very similar to the PC version. Of course, some mechanics will not translate as well as others, and that’s where some creative workarounds should come into play.

My guess is that it’ll be very similar to how Riot dealt with League of Legends and Wild Rift. Most of the core mechanics will be intact, with a few that will be changed to better suit the mobile platform. This results in a unique Valorant experience while still retaining familiar gameplay to the PC version.

Unfortunately, it seems that you can’t enjoy playing with your friends on a PC while on a mobile and vice versa. Riot has already confirmed that there wouldn’t be any crossplay available.

It’s easy to see why they chose this path. PC players will definitely have a huge advantage over mobile gamers. Crossplay would just send Valorant mobile’s competitive environment out the window. Any decent PC player should always win against a mobile player when it comes to a tactical shooter.

Unlike Teamfight Tactics, which does have crossplay enabled, Valorant requires more mechanical skills that might simply be too hard to accomplish on mobile.

Your Riot account should still be linked, though, making it easy to hop between the two platforms.
